Funding Description

Funding provided through Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V), previously known as the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act of 2006 (Perkins IV). Funding amount is based on the Arts, Media, and Entertainment (AME) Hip Hop Education and Equity Initiative to fund two local educational agencies for the establishment of an urban teacher workforce development, AME curriculum development, and training program for industry professionals who aim to transition to a career in education. The grant is in alignment with the priorities of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and the Governor's vision for building a diverse teacher workforce and reducing the achievement gap.

Required Eligibility Criteria Project funding is awarded on a non-competitive basis to agencies that have the appropriate expertise needed to address the CTE AME Pathways Programs related to the CTE plan.

Allocation Formula The first payment of 75 percent of funds will be released upon the completion and return of the AO-400, proposed budget, and budget narrative; the second payment of 15 percent of the funds will be released upon completion of the mid-year report submitted to the California Department of Education. The final 10 percent payment will be processed after receipt of the end of project expenditure report and narrative.
