Dear County Superintendent of Schools:

Apportionment for COVID Mitigation for Counties,
Fiscal Year 2021–22

This apportionment, in the amount of $80,000,000, is made from funds provided in Section 153 Assembly Bill 130 (Chapter 44, Statutes of 2021) to support any purposes consistent with providing in-person instruction including, but not limited to, the following purposes:

  • COVID-19 testing,
  • Cleaning and disinfection,
  • Personal protective equipment,
  • Ventilation and other school site upgrades necessary for health and safety,
  • Salaries for certificated or classified employees providing in-person instruction or services,
  • Devices and connectivity,
  • Social and mental health support services provided in conjunction with in-person instruction, and
  • Costs associated with increases in the amount of instructional time provided to pupils.

County Offices of Education (COE) may use these funds for expenditures through June 30, 2023.

Allocations amounts for each COE are based on the 2019–20 average daily attendance (ADA) of pupils attending County Community Schools established pursuant to Education Code (EC) 1981, Juvenile Court Schools established pursuant to EC 48645, and charter schools established pursuant to EC Section 47605.5 multiplied by $3,075.84 per unit of ADA. The amount apportioned is equal to 100 percent of the allocation amount available.

For standardized account code structure, use Resource Code 7430, Other Restricted State, and Revenue Object Code 8590, All Other State Revenue. Warrants will be mailed to the County Treasurers approximately three to four weeks from the date of this Notice.

County Superintendent of Schools were notified of this apportionment by email, which was sent to its CDEfisc email address.
