FFVP: Claiming Administrative Costs

Management Bulletin (MB) SNP-01-2023: Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP): Claiming Administrative Costs is now available on the California Department of Education School Nutrition Programs Management Bulletins web page.

The purpose of this MB is to:

• describe updates to the California School Accounting Manual (CSAM) relating to the exclusion of food costs from the indirect cost rate (ICR);
• provide assurances that the current practice of using the ICR to estimate administrative costs in the FFVP aligns with these CSAM updates; and
• reiterate existing guidance on when and how to claim administrative costs for the FFVP.

This new FFVP guidance and policy update became effective at the start of School Year 2022–23.

Note that because existing practices are compliant with this CSAM update, there is no impact to claims, current or historical, or action needed on your part.
