Study of 2019 Dashboard Data of Priority 3

Study of Priority 3 (Parental Involvement and Family Engagement) Local Indicator

Strong family-school partnerships are critical in promoting improved student outcomes.

Each local educational agency (LEA) in California is required to address Priority 3 (Parental Involvement and Family Engagement) within their local control and accountability plan (LCAP), to measure progress towards this local indicator and to report in the California School Dashboard (Dashboard) using the applicable self-reflection tool adopted by the State Board of Education.

In 2020-21, the California Department of Education (CDE) conducted a study of Priority 3 (Parental Involvement and Family Engagement) Local Indicator Data reported by LEAs in the 2019 Dashboard. The CDE developed the study’s design with technical assistance from the Region 15 Comprehensive Center at WestEd (R15 CC) and the Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) West at WestEd.

As a supplement to the study, an infographic[https://ies.ed.gov/ncee/edlabs/regions/west/Publications/Details/298] External link opens in new window or tab. was co-developed with REL West to provide an overview of the key findings of the narrative data analysis portion of the study.
