1

This school (or the district on behalf of the school) reported that it would correct 2002 Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) demographic information through the testing contractor. However, the information has not been corrected.

The California Department of Education will post 2002 Growth API for this school when corrected data become available.

2

No 2001 API (Base) nor 2001–2002 API (Growth) can be reported because this school (or the district on behalf of the school) has certified to the California Department of Education that during the Spring 2001 STAR testing an adult irregularity in testing procedure occurred at the school affecting 5 percent or more of pupils tested. Therefore, this school does not have a valid API for 2001.

The 2002 API (Base) will be released in February 2003.

3

This school's proportion of students excused at parent request compared to its 2002 Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) program enrollment on the first day of testing is equal to or greater than 10 percent

When a school's proportion of parental waivers is equal to or greater than 10 but less than 20 percent, the California Department of Education (CDE) conducts standard statistical tests to check whether the pupils tested at the school were representative of the entire school's population. This school failed the statistical test or its proportion of parental waivers in 2002 is 20 percent or greater, therefore, the school does not have a valid API for 2002.

4

This school serves a non-traditional student population and has elected to participate in the Alternative Schools Accountability Model.

5

In 2002, this school had fewer than 11 valid STAR test scores. No reliable API can be calculated with so few scores. This school will participate in the Alternative Schools Accountability Model.

6

The district superintendent (or principal, if an independent charter school) has certified that the scores obtained on the 2002 administration of the STAR do not reflect the performance of the students at the school.

7

For at least one STAR content area used in the API, this school failed to test in 2002 a significant proportion of students who were not exempt from testing.

8

This school (or the district on behalf of the school) reported that it would correct 2002 STAR demographic information through the testing contractor. However, the information has not been corrected, and the validity of the school's API is in question.

9

This school (or the district on behalf of the school) has certified to the California Department of Education that during the Spring 2002 STAR testing an adult irregularity in testing procedure occurred at the school affecting 5 percent or more of pupils tested. Therefore, this school does not have a valid API for 2002.

10

No 2001 API (Base) nor 2001–2002 API (Growth) can be reported because for at least one STAR content area used in the API, this school failed to test in 2001 a significant portion of students who were not exempt from testing.

The 2002 API (Base) will be released in February 2003.

11

The district superintendent has certified that this school experienced a significant demographic change between the Spring 2001 and Spring 2002 STAR testing periods and that the test results across years are not comparable. The Department will review the District's request and if granted, a 2001–2002 API (Growth) will not be calculated for this school. If The Department denies the request, the 2001–2002 API (Growth) will be published in December.

The 2001 API (Base) will be released in February 2003.

12

This school had no STAR test results in 2002, so a 2001–2002 API (Growth) and a 2002 API (Base) cannot be calculated.

13

No 2001 API (Base) nor 2001–2002 API (Growth) can be reported because the school has unresolved discrepancies in its demographic data for the 2001 STAR testing.

The 2002 API (Base) will be released in February 2003.

14

No 2001 (Base) nor 2001–2002 API (Growth) can be reported because this school's proportion of students excused at parent request compared to its 2001 Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) program enrollment on the first day of testing is equal to or greater than 10 percent.

The 2002 API (Base) will be released in February 2003.

15

Some results are not available because the answer documents were misplaced at the contractor's and have not been found. A modified 2001–2002 Growth API may be published at a later date.
