Background

The SAT is a standardized test that is owned and published by the College Board, a non-profit organization in the United States, and assesses the critical reading, mathematics, and writing skills that students need to be successful in college. A data sharing agreement between the CDE and the College Board has allowed the CDE to match SAT tests to California public schools and produce a SAT Report and downloadable data files that displayed SAT data for each school, district, county and statewide. Effective February 2022, following a review of current CDE and local educational agency business needs with respect to the SAT data, the CDE has discontinued the creation and publication of the SAT Report and supporting downloadable data files.

Note that the CDE provides information and data on college readiness through the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP), a computer-based assessment that is given to students in grades three through eight and eleven each spring. This test has been specifically developed to gauge and determine students’ progress towards career and college readiness. For more information, please refer to the CDE California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) web page.
