Professional Development Block Grant (Flexible Funds)

Funding Description

Funding for this program is unrestricted pursuant to SBX3 4 (Chapter 12, Statutes of 2009), enacted February 2009. For additional information, please refer to the Action on 2008 and 2009 Budget Acts Web page.

Before 2008-09, the funds were restricted to the Professional Development Block Grant program, which may be used for any purpose authorized by the Instructional Time and Staff Development Reform (ITSDR), Teaching as a Priority Block Grant (TAP), and Intersegmental Staff Development Programs as they existed prior to the inclusion in the Professional Development Block Grant.

Allocation Formula For fiscal year 2009-10, LEAs will receive approximately the same amount they received based on revised totals for fiscal year 2008-09. Funding for this program from fiscal year 2009-10 through 2012-13 will be based on 2008-09 funding levels. LEAs will receive the same percentage of the available funding that they received of the funding allocated in 2008-09.
