Instructional Materials Funding Realignment Program (Flexible Funds)

Funding for this program is unrestricted pursuant to SBX3 4 (Chapter 12, Statutes of 2009), enacted February 2009. For additional information, please refer to the Action on 2008 and 2009 Budget Acts Web page.

Prior to 2008-09, the funds were restricted to the Instructional Materials Funding Realignment Program (IMFRP) which provided funding to schools districts and county offices of education for the purchase of instructional materials.

Eligibility

Eligible Applicants	Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria	In order to be eligible to receive IMFRP funds, the governing board of a school district must hold a public hearing in order to determine whether every student has sufficient and appropriate textbooks or instructional materials in mathematics, science, history-social science, and RLA/ELD. (Education Code Section 60119 as amended by Section 18 of SBX3 4).

Allocation Formula	For fiscal year 2009-10, the entitlement to each local educational agency (LEA) is equal to the IMFRP appropriation for this fiscal year, $333,662,000, multiplied by the percentage that reflects the same relative proportion of funding that the LEA received for the program in fiscal year 2008-09.
