Funding for this program is unrestricted pursuant to SBX3 4 (Chapter 12, Statutes of 2009), enacted February 2009. For additional information, please refer to the Action on 2008 and 2009 Budget Acts Web page.
Before 2008-09, the funds were restricted to the American Indian Education Centers serving as an educational resource to American Indian students, parents, and public schools in American Indian communities. The centers assist in improving academic achievement and lowering dropout rates among American Indian students at all grade levels.

| Allocation Formula | For 2009-10, LEAs will receive approximately the same amount of funds they received for fiscal year 2008-09, less approximately 5.3%. Funding for this program from fiscal years 2009-10 through 2012-13 will be based on 2008-09 funding levels. LEAs will receive the same percentage of the available funding that they received of the funding allocated in 2008-09. |
