Funding for this program is unrestricted pursuant to SBX3 4 (Chapter 12, Statutes of 2009), enacted February 2009. For additional information, please refer to the Action on 2008 and 2009 Budget Acts Web page.
Before 2008-09, the funds were restricted to the School Safety Consolidated Competitive Grant program. It supports districts or county offices of education to establish programs to address school safety and violence prevention with an emphasis on gang violence prevention. Up to $400,000 of the funding may be used to provide regional training in safe school planning and crisis response.
