November 27, 2006

Dear Select County Superintendents of Schools, Auditors and Treasurers:

20 DAY ACTUAL SPECIAL APPORTIONMENT FOR NEWLY OPERATIONAL
CHARTER SCHOOLS, FISCAL YEAR 2006–07

This special apportionment, in the amount of $19,397,489, has been made in accordance with California Education Code (EC) Section 47652 for fiscal year 2006–07. This apportionment is, in effect, an advance apportionment.

The amount to be received in this apportionment is for the months of November 2006 through January 2007. This apportionment is the second advance apportionment for newly operational charter schools, and is based on the first 20 days of actual attendance and the economic impact aid-eligible data reported in 2006–07. Charter school administrators, superintendents and business officials of local educational agencies will receive more detailed apportionment information in subsequent correspondence.

The warrants should be mailed by the State Controller’s Office to the county treasurer in approximately three to four weeks from the date of this letter. The county treasurers are requested to immediately deposit the amount received into the fund or account of the participating local educational agencies or charter schools at the direction of the county superintendent of schools.

A copy of this letter and the amount apportioned to each participating local educational agency or charter school will be made available on California Department of Education’s Web site under Principal Apportionments at: http://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/aa/pa/.

If you have any questions regarding this apportionment, please contact Byron Fong, Consultant, Charter Apportionments and District Reorganization, at 916-323-0498 or by email at byfong@cde.ca.gov [Note: The preceding information is no longer valid.].
