Administrator Training

NOTE: The application due date for this program has passed.

The Administrator Training Program (AB 430), which reauthorizes the Principal Training Program (AB 75), became effective July 1, 2006. It supports professional development that focuses on building principals' and vice principals' leadership skills and the capacity necessary to serve effectively in their critical and complex roles. Federal funding comes from No Child Left Behind (NCLB): Title II, Part A, Principal Training.

Eligibility

Eligible Applicants	Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria	Principals or vice principals at a school site can participate in Administrators Training. Note: A third application cycle is now available for approximately $3 million in remaining funds for this program. Please refer to the request for application web site for more information.
Other Eligibility Considerations	Principals or vice principals at school sites that receive the following funding are required to participate in Administrator Training: Reading First, High Priority Schools, and the School Assistance Intervention Team programs.

Allocation Formula	The total funding available is $6,554,000, of which $5,000,000 is from state funds, and $1,554,000 is federal funding. The recipient funding amount is $3,000. The first payment of $1,500 is disbursed after the training particpant's name is entered into the Management System for Administrator Training (MSfAT) database. The final payment of $1,500 is disbursed after all requirements of the program have been met (total of 160 hours and survey) and entered into the MSfAT database.

Other	LEAs request funding by completing the online application. Only providers approved by the California State Board of Education may provide the training. Amendment period will be December 10, 2007 to January 10, 2008 at which time applicants will adjust funding levels or new funding may be applied for if funding permits.
