Professional Development Opportunities

Introduction, Submission Criteria, and Directions for the Professional Development Opportunities Database

Introduction

California is committed to building a high quality system of educator and administrator support. The Professional Development and Curriculum Support Division (PDCSD) recognizes the need for developing a statewide infrastructure for professional development that supports educator/administrator learning communities and school improvement efforts.

While the California Department of Education (CDE) has launched a number of high-quality professional development initiatives, the PDCSD has taken a step further in capacity building by creating a Web site for statewide professional development training that will house training opportunities sponsored by the County Offices of Education (COE) and Local Educational Agencies (LEA). In a few easy steps, COEs, LEAs and the CDE will be able to input their professional development opportunities into the statewide professional development website.

This Professional Development Web site is not a registration venue for the professional development opportunities within the database.

Submission Criteria

Criteria Professional development opportunity trainings submitted to the database must be aligned with the criteria appropriate to the legislated program (AB 430, Administrator Training; AB 466, Mathematics and Reading Professional Development; SB 352, Chief Business Officer Training). Professional development opportunity trainings associated with federal, state or locally developed programs must be aligned with those programs' associated criteria.
