REQUIRED: 2025–26 FFVP Orientation Trainings


Congratulations on your selection as a Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) grantee and thank you for your interest in expanding nutrition education and access to fresh fruit and vegetables for students in your elementary schools.

The California Department of Education (CDE) requires all new and continuing 2025–26 FFVP grantees to complete the mandatory three-part FFVP Orientation Online Training Series prior to implementing the FFVP.

Due Date: Monday, September 15, 2025, at 5 p.m. Pacific Standard Time

Training Length: Approximately 90 minutes in total

Training Access: The orientation online training series is now available on the Nutrition Services Division (NSD) Cornerstone Learning Management System (LMS). Instructions on how to register on the NSD LMS and access the 2025–26 FFVP Orientation Online Training Series are available in the Child Nutrition Information and Payment System (CNIPS) School Nutrition Programs, Application tab: Download Forms section: Form ID LMS Reg 001.

Mandatory Training: Descriptions and Audience

The three online training topics are: (1) FFVP Grant Overview, (2) FFVP Fiscal Responsibilities, and (3) FFVP Claiming in the CNIPS. Staff responsible for implementing the FFVP grant and staff responsible for budgeting and claiming are required to participate. The descriptions of the mandatory online trainings are as follows:

  1. Grant Overview Online Training
    • Description: This online training includes a review of the basic components of the FFVP, federal and state guidance for implementation, nutrition education resources, and program promotion.
  2. Fiscal Responsibilities Online Training
    • Description: This online training includes information on the grant funding schedule (two allocations), allowable and unallowable expenses, procurement, budgeting, record keeping, and the reimbursement process.
  3. Claiming in the CNIPS Online Training
    • Description: This online training provides an overview of the process for using the CNIPS to complete, submit, and revise FFVP claims; grant funding (two allocations); and allowable and unallowable expenses.

Documentation

Upon completing the training series, participants can access and download a certificate of completion. To obtain your certificate:

  1. Select the Options button on the training page.
  2. Select View Training Details.
  3. Download the certificate from the training details screen and save it for your records.

Optional Training Opportunity

FFVP grantees may also complete the FFVP Administrative Review (AR) Process Online Training. While not required, this training is highly recommended for all grantees. It provides an overview of the FFVP component of an AR. You can access the FFVP AR Process Online Training on the CDE FFVP AR Process Training web page.
