California Accountability & Improvement System (CAIS)

CAIS is a web-based support system used to review school plans and monitor compliance documentation for schools (public and non-public), districts, and county offices that receive funding for certain programs.

As of June 30, 2016 was decommissioned. Users will no longer have access to information or documentation stored in the system after this date.

CAIS was utilized from 2008 through June 2016 to support the monitoring implementation activities for the California Department of Education including LEA Plans, Single Plan for Student Achievement, School Improvement Grants, Title III plans, Special Education Division, and Federal Program Monitoring.

As of January 2016 the California Department of Education Monitoring Tool (CMT) was implemented by CDE to support monitoring activities. Information and data contained in CAIS will not be transferred by CDE to CMT. For additional information regarding the California Department of Education’s use of CMT, please visit the CMT Web page.

LEA Plan building activities and NPS/A certification applications and Self-Reviews will not be supported by CMT.
