Design Mid-block Crosswalk/Drop-off Example 12

This is an Accessible Alternative Version of the conceptual design Mid-block Crosswalk/Drop-off Conflict Example 12 (PDF). The Adobe Acrobat Portable Document should be the preferred version for downloading.

A conceptual design for school site layout displaying a conflict with a mid-block crosswalk and parent drop-off. Areas of concern are the pedestrian driveway conflict and the mid-block crossing, which can be problematic for pedestrian safety because they may create several points of pedestrian/vehicle conflict on the school site. If possible, relocate the crosswalk to a place that allows pedestrians to enter the site with minimum pedestrian/vehicle conflicts.

The California Department of Education, School Facilities and Transportation Services Division. These are conceptual displays only and are intended to illustrate a specific Title 5 criterion. The California Department of Education will evaluate designs based on the unique site conditions and the educational program of a school.
