Design Bus/Parent Drop-off Conflict Example 8

This is an Accessible Alternative Version of the conceptual design Bus Drop-off/Parent Drop-off Conflict Example 8 (PDF). The Adobe Acrobat Portable Document should be the preferred version for downloading.

A conceptual design for school site layout displaying a conflict with parent and bus drop-off. The area of concern with this illustration is the pedestrian driveway conflict, where a parking space requires a driver to back across the crosswalk or into a traffic lane. For the drop-off location relative to the school entrance, parents will try to drop-off at the entrance rather than driving onto the site fully, causing vehicles stacking into the street.

California Department of Education, School Facilities and Transportation Services Division. These are conceptual displays only and are intended to illustrate a specific Title 5 criterion. The California Department of Education will evaluate designs based on the unique site conditions and the educational program of a school.
