Design Bus/Parent Drop-off Conflict Example 9

This is an Accessible Alternative Version of the conceptual design Bus Drop-off/parent Drop-off Conflict Example 9 (PDF). The Adobe Acrobat Portable Document should be the preferred version for downloading.

A conceptual design for school site layout displaying a solution for a conflict with parent and bus drop-off. Avoid pedestrian crossing driveway whenever possible. Direct pedestrians around the parking and driveway spaces by providing sidewalks. Allow enough space so that cars are not required to back across crosswalks or into traffic lanes. Encourage vehicles to enter the site completely when dropping off to avoid traffic stacking into the street.

California Department of Education, School Facilities and Transportation Services Division. These are conceptual displays only and are intended to illustrate a specific Title 5 criterion. The California Department of Education will evaluate designs based on the unique site conditions and the educational program of a school.
