Ad Hoc Committee on the Implementation of the Common Core State Standards
Chair Angel Barrett called the meeting to order.

1. Welcome and Introductions (Information)
   Commissioners, California Department of Education (CDE) staff, and State Board of Education (SBE) staff present at the twelve sites participating in the conference call identified themselves.

The following Commissioners participated:

2. Update on the SMARTER Balanced Assessment Consortium (Information)
   Patrick Traynor, Director of Assessment Development and Administration Division, at the California Department of Education, provided an update on the status of the SMARTER Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC). Following the presentation, Angel Barrett called upon members of the Instructional Quality Commission to ask any questions which were subsequently addressed by Mr. Traynor.

No actions were taken by the committee.

3. Public Comment
   Each member of the public present on the conference call asked brief questions regarding California’s planned implementation of future SBAC assessments.

Committee Chair Angel Barrett adjourned the meeting.
