California Partnership Academies Green Academy Planning Grants

Funding Description

Funding is available for the Green California Partnership Academies (CPA) planning grants and is contingent on inclusion in the approved State Budget. Funding will be provided through AB519 for Green and Clean Academies. The CPAs are effective school/district/business partnership, providing integrated academic and career technical instruction. The CPA model is a school-within-a-school for students interested in exploring and preparing for careers and college.

Required Eligibility Criteria This is special funding provided through AB 519 for Green and Clean CPA programs. Schools participating in the program must follow the specification of California Education Code sections 54690-54696. This Request for Application (RFA) is for 17 planning grants for 2009-10 for schools intending to implement a California Partnership Academy in “green” careers in 2010-11. Applicants must also show their plan for achieving compliance with all CPA required components in subsequent years.
Other Eligibility Considerations This grant would require grantees to create partnership academies that focus on clean technology and energy businesses and provide skilled workforces for the products and services for energy or water conservation, or both, renewable energy, pollution reduction, or other technologies that improve the environment in furtherance of state environmental laws.
