Mental Health Services to Special Education Students, PCA 25161


Funding Description

Senate Bill 70 (Chapter 7, Statutes of 2011) provides Special Education Local Plan Areas (SELPAs) one-time general funds to be used to provide mental health services required by an Individualized Education Program pursuant to the Federal Individuals with Disabilities Act. SELPAs determine the distribution plan of these funds.

Eligible Applicants Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria Funds must be exclusively used to support mental health services that are (1) included within an individualized education program (IEP) and (2) provided during the fiscal year.
Other Eligibility Considerations The grantee is required to provide actual service and cost documentation to the CDE. The grantee must provide actual service and cost data to the California Department of Education (CDE). Invoices or other documentation must provide sufficient detail to enable the grantee to establish a link between the services claimed and each student’s IEP. Local educational agencies must have an approved Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) local plan on file with the CDE.
