California Partnership Academies SB 1070 Continued Funding


Funding Description

Funding will be provided through SB 1070, pursuant to the supplemental report of Budget item 6110-170-0001, community colleges, related to the CTE Plan, and CPA model California Education Code (EC) sections 54690–54696 for the currently operating CPA programs. The CPAs are effective school/district/business partnerships, providing integrated academic and career technical instruction to students who are at risk of dropping out of school or who are not motivated by traditional curricula. The CPA model, a school-within-a-school for students in the tenth through the twelfth grades, establishes viable partnerships with either the business community or the public sector, or both. Emphasis is placed on student achievement, attendance, and program accountability.

Required Eligibility Criteria Funding will be provided through SB 1070 for the currently operating CPA programs. The CPA model is mandated per EC sections 54690-54696. Other Eligibility Considerations In order to receive funding, CPAs must submit a Letter of Intent, committing funds to the model mandated in EC sections 54690-54696. Each academy must also submit with the Letter of Intent, the 2014–15 Proposed Budget. These documents are due by June 30, 2014.
