SEEWIG Frequently Asked Questions

Questions received from potential applicants and answers regarding the Educator Workforce Investment Grant for Special Education-Related (SEEWIG) Professional Development.
  1. Can a County Office of Education (COE) apply alone?

    a. Yes. A COE may apply alone, or as a consortium. Please refer to Section VIII. Application Process for procedures depending on each option.

  1. Can you give examples of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) options?

    a. No. This is left up to the applicant to research and decide upon which agencies/programs to explore and or collaborate with in order to meet the requirements of the request for authorization for the special education component of the Educator Workforce Investment Grant (EWIG).

  1. Does the UDL collaboration have to be a public agency?

    a. No. In order not to duplicate existing UDL frameworks and applications, this is left up to the discretion of the bidder to coordinate and collaborate with a representative sample of the state.

  1. Can the California Department of Education define “high needs setting”?

    a. The definition of high needs setting is a setting that needs to be of focus or in need of resources. This definition can then be interpreted by the bidder under the conditions of the Educator Workforce Investment Grant: Special Education-Related (SEEWIG) Professional Development Request for Application (RFA) to implement this requirement in the manner that supports the development and dissemination of resources.

  1. Can the special education component of the Educator Workforce Investment Grant (EWIG) Request for Application (RFA) be posted/reposted at the same link of the other EWIG RFAs on the Educator Workforce Investment Grant Program web page?

    a. The California Department of Education will attempt to post the special education component of the EWIG RFA on the requested web page. Due to time constraints and posting requirements, this may not be feasible.

    b. The current posting of the special education component of the EWIG RFA can be found on the EWIG: Special Education Related Professional Development Request for Applications web page.
