Reminder—Downtime for CAASPP and ELPAC Systems

Beginning today, Friday, June 30, at 5 p.m. through Wednesday, July 5, at 8 a.m., the following CAASPP and ELPAC systems will be unavailable:

• Test Operations Management System
• Test Delivery System/Test Administrator Interface
• Completion Status System
• Data Entry Interface
• Initial ELPAC Teacher Hand-Scoring System

The 2023–24 CAASPP Planned System Downtime and 2023–24 ELPAC Planned System Downtime web pages provide a calendar of scheduled downtimes through June 2024. Local educational agencies (LEAs) having questions about the scheduled downtime can direct them to their assigned LEA Success Agent. The LEA Success Agent Lookup web page provides a quick way for LEAs to locate their assigned Success Agent, and the California Outreach web page offers other support options.

Generating Statewide Student Identifiers Takes Time

Next week, the Initial ELPAC and Initial Alternate ELPAC testing windows open on July 5, 2023. LEA ELPAC coordinators, please work with your California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS) coordinator when pre-enrolling students over the summer and provide them with a list of students who are eligible to take the Initial ELPAC or Initial Alternate ELPAC.

For more information on assessing students during the summer, please refer to the California Department of Education (CDE) CALPADS Update Flash #219 web page. CALPADS coordinators must submit the following information to pre-enroll students and generate Statewide Student Identifiers (SSIDs) for newly enrolled students:

• A Student Enrollment record with the student's expected first day of school.
• A Student Information record with the student's address.
• Student English Language Acquisition records with an English Language Acquisition Status (ELAS) of To Be Determined, a primary language other than English or American Sign Language, and an ELAS Start Date on or after July 1, 2023, if testing during the summer.

Please submit your SSID requests a week before testing to ensure that students will have their SSIDs generated prior to administration of the Initial ELPAC and Initial Alternate ELPAC.
