Computer Science Content Standards Development
The CDE, Instructional Quality Commission, and State Board of Education (SBE) are commencing the process for developing new California computer science content standards. Per California Education Code. Section 60605.4, "on or before July 31, 2019, the Instructional Quality Commission shall consider developing and recommending to the SBE computer science content standards for kindergarten and grades 1 to 12, inclusive, pursuant to recommendations developed by a group of computer science experts." Computer Science Standards Advisory Committee (CSSAC)
The CDE and the State Board of Education are recruiting applicants for the Computer Science Standards Advisory Committee (CSSAC) to assist with the development of California’s new Computer Science Standards. Note: These activities are contingent on CDE receiving funding.

The CDE will convene three focus group meetings to provide input on guidelines that will be utilized by a group of computer science experts who will be tasked to develop the new standards. The meetings are open to the public.

This list of appointed focus group members and their local educational agency affiliation is organized by meeting date.
- Focus Group Discussion Questions
At each focus group meeting, the focus group members will address a set of questions regarding the content for California’s new Computer Science Standards. Interested stakeholders are invited to submit their responses to the discussion questions to the computer science mailbox at Cacomputersci@cde.ca.gov.
