Title III - LEP Student Subgrant Program

Funding Description
LEAs that do not apply by the deadline will need to wait until the 2014-15 funding cycle to apply for Title III funding. Funding is made available to eligible local educational agencies (LEAs) to provide supplementary programs and services to limited English proficient (LEP) students, known as English learners (ELs). The purpose of the subgrants is to assist EL students to acquire English and achieve grade-level and graduation standards. Note: Recipients and funding amounts are subject to budget and administrative adjustments.Eligibility

Required Eligibility Criteria | An LEA that reported the enrollment of one or more LEP students through the Spring 2012 California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS) data collection is eligible to apply. |
Other Eligibility Considerations | LEAs scheduled to receive a formula subgrant of $10,000 or more may apply for Title III LEP student funds directly via the Consolidated Application and Reporting System (CARS). LEAs scheduled to receive a formula subgrant of less than $10,000 must apply as a member of a consortium. |

Other | LEAs eligible for direct funding are asked to accept or decline funds via Part I of the Consolidated Application and Reporting System (CARS) by Sunday, June 30, 2013. LEAs that are required to apply as a member of a consortium must submit an application through the consortia online application. Consortium applications are due on or before Sunday, June 30, 2013. LEAs that fail to respond by the deadline cannot be guaranteed funding for 2013-14. |
