Assistance for Homeless Children and Youth Program


Funding Description

The California Department of Education (CDE) received the Elementary and Secondary Education Hurricane Relief Assistance to Homeless Children and Youth (AHCY) grant from the U.S. Department of Education on behalf of local educational agencies (LEAs) impacted by the 2017 California wildfires. AHCY funding may be used to reimburse LEAs that applied to the CDE to address educational and related needs of displaced students.

Eligible Applicants Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria These funds may be used to serve LEAs (including charter schools and county office of education) that applied to CDE in order to participate in the program. In general, AHCY funds may be used on any activity authorized under Section 723 of the McKinney-Vento Act.
