Mandate Block Grant

Funding Description

Provide funding to county offices of education (COE), school districts and charter schools to support various mandated programs. COEs and districts may choose to either receive the mandate block grant funding or submit a mandate reimbursement claim with the State Controller Office.

Eligibility

Eligible Applicants Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria Submit letter of intent to participate in the program by September 30 of each year
Other Eligibility Considerations If a school district or county office of education elects to receive the mandate block grant, then a mandate reimbursement claim pursuant to Government Code Section 17560 may not be filed.

$ 14 per prior year ADA for charter schools.
$ 28 per prior year ADA for COE plus $1 per prior year revenue limit ADA generated by the County Office of Education and districts in that county.
