Title III, Part A, Immigrant Students

Funding Description

Funding is made available to eligible local educational agencies (LEAs) to provide supplementary programs and services to eligible immigrant students. The purpose of the subgrants is to assist immigrant students to acquire English and achieve grade-level and graduation standards. Note: Recipients and funding amounts are subject to budget and administrative adjustments.

Eligibility

Eligible Applicants Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria LEAs that have 21 or more eligible immigrant students and have experienced a two percent or greater growth in the enrollment of eligible immigrant students in 2016 as compared to the average of the eligible immigrant enrollments of 2014 and 2015 are eligible to apply. Immigrant student enrollment for 2017 is taken from the Fall 2016 California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS) data collections.
Other Eligibility Considerations LEAs eligible to receive a formula subgrant may apply for Title III Immigrant student funds directly via the Consolidated Application and Reporting System (CARS).

Other LEAs are asked to accept or decline funds via the Consolidated Application and Reporting System (CARS) by July 31, 2017. LEAs that fail to respond by the deadline cannot be guaranteed funding for 2017-18.
