Dear Mendocino County Superintendent of Schools:

Third Apportionment for Title V, Part B, Subpart 2
Rural and Low-Income School Program
Every Student Succeeds Act
Fiscal Year 2020–21

This apportionment, in the amount of $256, is made from federal funds provided to the state under Title V, Part B, Subpart 2, of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) (Public Law 114–95). Title V, Part B, Subpart 2 funds are to be used to improve instruction and achievement for children in rural and low-income schools by supporting activities such as teacher recruitment and retention, teacher professional development, educational technology, parental involvement, or any activities authorized under Title I, Part A,
Title II Part A, Title III, or Title IV, Part A, pursuant to Section 5222(a) of the ESEA. Warrants will be mailed to each county treasurer approximately three weeks from the date of this Notice.

The amount included in this apportionment is released to Willits Charter based on the approval of the maintenance of effort (MOE) waiver request by the U. S. Department of Education dated October 14, 2021. Pursuant to Section 8521 of the ESSA, funds were previously withheld from Willits Charter when it failed to meet the federal MOE requirement applicable to 2020–21 funding.

Information about the program, allocation, apportionments, grant award identification, grant award period, and the applicable federal rules and regulations is posted on the California Department of Education (CDE) Funding Results web page at https://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/fo/r14/title5pb20result.asp.

The Mendocino County Superintendent was notified of this apportionment by email sent to its CDEfisc email address. The CDE requested that the email be forwarded to Willits Charter, and included the links to this letter and the accompanying apportionment schedule posted on the CDE web page at https://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/aa/ca/.
