Dear Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools:

Apportionment for
Los Angeles Wildfire District Support,
Fiscal Year 2025–26

This apportionment, in the amount of $1,800,000, is made from funds provided in Control Section 19.56(b)(5) of the Budget Act of 2025 (Chapter 4, Statutes of 2025), as added by Section 243 of Assembly Bill 102 (Chapter 5, Statutes of 2025), to provide additional support to the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District and Beverly Hills Unified School District for impacts from the January 2025 Los Angeles wildfires. Of the amount appropriated, $1,300,000 shall be made available to the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, and $500,000 shall be made available to the Beverly Hills Unified School District. This apportionment provides 100 percent of funds available in fiscal year 2025–26.

Pursuant to Control Section 19.56(a), funds shall be available for encumbrance or expenditure through June 30, 2027, and liquidation until June 30, 2029. Funds may be used to pay for costs incurred prior to the enactment of AB 102.

A warrant will be mailed to the Los Angeles County Treasurer approximately three weeks from the date of this letter. The Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools is requested to inform the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District and Beverly Hills Unified School District immediately regarding this apportionment.

The Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools was notified of this apportionment by email, which was sent to its CDEfisc email address. The CDE requested that the email be forwarded to the two eligible recipients, and included the links to this letter and the apportionment schedule which are posted on the CDE web page at https://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/fo/r14/lawds25result.asp.
