Nonpublic Schools

• Local Educational Agency Onsite Visit for Nonpublic School Form (PDF; Updated 24-Aug-2026)
  Pursuant to Senate Bill 373 (2025–2026), local educational agencies shall report the findings resulting from a monitoring visit to a nonpublic school, as required in California Education Code (EC) Section 56366.1(e)(4)(B), to the California Department of Education (CDE) using the Local Educational Agency Onsite Visit for Nonpublic School Form developed and published by the CDE on its internet website, within 60 calendar days of the onsite visit. The completed form must be submitted to the Nonpublic Schools Unit by email at NPS@cde.ca.gov.
• Seeds of Partnership Webinars on Senate Bill 373: Special Education and Nonpublic Schools
  On May 21, 2026, the Seeds of Partnership conducted two informational webinars regarding the new requirements of nonpublic schools, local educational agencies (LEAs), and the CDE, as stated in Senate Bill 373.
• Nonpublic Schools Certification Data Worksheet (XLSX; Updated 22-Sep-2026)
  The Nonpublic School (NPS) spreadsheet contains certification information regarding all the NPSs currently certified by the CDE. This spreadsheet is updated monthly.
• Nonpublic Schools Unit Interview Tool for Out-of-state Nonpublic Schools
  Per California EC 56366.1(k)(2), the CDE shall develop an interview tool to be used for interviews with pupils to assess the pupil’s perceptions of the NPS and the services provided, discuss progress, and address any concerns. The interview tool shall require interviews to include, at minimum, the pupil’s perceptions of being treated with respect and dignity and of whether the staff maintain appropriate professional boundaries. Per EC 56366.1(k)(2), the tool shall be made available to LEAs upon request to conduct interviews.
