Lists of Enrollment Change by County

Student enrollment change by county from 2023–24 to 2024–25.

This page serves as a companion to the enrollment map provided in the 2024–25 Fact Sheet: California State At-a-Glance Flyer (PDF) which can be accessed through the Fingertip Facts on Education in California web page. The enrollment information is based on the number of students enrolled on Census Day (the first Wednesday in October). The sections below identify the counties that experienced any decrease in enrollment, an increase up to 1.0 percent, and any increase above 1.0 percent.

Decrease in Enrollment

The following 29 counties experienced a decrease in enrollment from 2023–24 to 2024–25:

Increase in Enrollment Up to One Percent

The following 20 counties experienced an increase in enrollment up to one percent from 2023–24 to 2024–25:

  • Butte
  • Calaveras
  • Fresno
  • Kern
  • Kings
  • Lake
  • Lassen
  • Mendocino
  • Modoc
  • Napa
  • Inyo
  • San Benito
  • San Francisco
  • San Joaquin
  • San Luis Obispo
  • Santa Barbara
  • Siskiyou
  • Sonoma
  • Stanislaus
  • Trinity

Larger Increases in Enrollment

The following nine counties experienced an increase in enrollment of more than 1.0 percent from 2023–24 to 2024–25:

  • El Dorado
  • Glenn
  • Mariposa
  • Nevada
  • Placer
  • Sacramento
  • Sierra
  • Sutter
  • Yuba
