Including Immigrant Students and Families Webinar: From Policy to Practice (Tuesday, September 29, 2026)

On behalf of the California Department of Education (CDE), I invite county, district, school, and charter school leaders to join us for the third webinar in our Including Immigrant Students and Families series.

Across California, schools remain a place of stability for immigrant students and their families. The first two webinars in this series brought together nearly 1,000 educators, administrators, and community partners to build a shared foundation, and participants told us what they wanted next: less theory, more practice. This session responds directly to that request.

What: Including Immigrant Students and Families: From Policy to Practice

During this webinar, participants will:

• Hear directly from parents about what has made a difference for their families.
• Hear high-level information about the caregiver’s authorization affidavit and where to find related guidance for schools and families.
• Learn practical, trauma-informed approaches educators can use in classrooms and school front offices, including strategies to support staff well-being.
• Hear from district leaders, community schools, and expanded learning programs about practices that are working in their communities right now.

The webinar will be facilitated by Chief Deputy Superintendent Ingrid Roberson and will include live captioning and American Sign Language interpretation.

I encourage your leadership teams, family engagement staff, school site administrators, and community partners to join us. The session will provide practical resources that can be used immediately in the communities you serve.
