State Board of Education Executive Director Issues Statement on LCFF Audit
SACRAMENTO -- State Board of Education Executive Director Karen Stapf Walters issued the following statement today on the Local Control Funding Formula audit:
“As stated in our October 17, 2019 audit response, we appreciate the auditor’s work and agree that transparency and accountability are critically important to ensuring that local stakeholders continue to have a voice in local decisions about state resources.
“Because we agree, the State Board is focused on actions responsive to the auditor’s recommendations.Earlier this month, the Board approved a new Local Control and Accountability Plan template that is responsive to three of the four recommendations. Governor Newsom’s 2020-21 budget proposal includes funding for an online LCAP portal responsive to the fourth and final recommendation. We look forward to continuing to discuss these actions and others in coming months as we strengthen our system of school accountability and support.”
