Personal Finance Curriculum Guide

Public Comment Guiding Questions for the Personal Finance Curriculum Guide.

Please email all public comments to personalfinance@cde.ca.gov by October 31.

When preparing public comments, you may wish to consider the questions below. Wherever possible, please include page and line numbers for any proposed changes or additions.

Public comments that provide clear, actionable edits are appreciated. Referencing specific chapter, page and line numbers is especially helpful, as is a succinct rationale for making the change. Please see below for an example:

Chapter 1: Focus, Coherence, & Rigor

Pages 23–27, lines 537–620: Coherence

Comment: The language regarding “coherence” in the California Common Core State Standards for Mathematics asks for “linking topics and thinking across grades” and explains that “Learning is carefully connected across grades so that students can build new understanding onto foundations built in previous years.”

Please simplify the section on coherence so the reader can understand how the definition of coherence is being expanded or redefined. Remove the commentary on instructional materials and just explain simply how the term coherence in this document connects to and extends the prior definition.
