County Oversight: Valenzuela Case Settlement

Funding Description

Funding is available to county offices of education (COEs) for oversight purposes as part of the Valenzuela v. O'Connell (Valenzuela) case settlement. For local educational agencies (LEAs) participating in the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE) Intensive Instruction and Services program, COEs are to verify that eligible pupils who have not passed the CAHSEE by the end of grade 12 are informed that they are entitled to receive intensive instruction and services for up to two consecutive academic years after completion of grade 12 or until the pupil has passed both parts of the exam. In addition, COEs are to verify that pupils who have elected to receive CAHSEE intensive instruction and services are being served.
