Funding Description

The program serves to increase the capacity of Local Educational Agencies (LEA) to establish safer and healthier learning environments, prevent and respond to acts of violence and bullying/harassment, address mental health needs, develop safety assessments, corresponding plans and strategies, and promote a positive school climate and culture.

Required Eligibility Criteria An applicant must be a school district, charter school, or county office of education.

Funding

Legal Authority United States Congress funded the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act Stronger Connections Act in September 2022 providing $1 billion to SEAs under Title IV, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, of which $119 million will be awarded on a competitive basis to eligible LEAs.
