Restorative Practices Grant Program

Funding Description

This grant, funded by a $7 million appropriation from the General Fund, aims to provide Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) the financial resources necessary to implement restorative practices effectively. The funding is intended to help LEAs adopt and integrate restorative approaches that align with the California Department of Education's (CDE) guidelines, strengthening efforts to reduce disciplinary actions, enhance student engagement, and improve school climate.

Eligible Applicants Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria This grant is open to LEAs in California, defined as a school district, charter school, or county office of education. To maximize the impact of this one-time grant award, funding priorities will be given to LEAs that currently have implemented restorative practices and planned to use the grant funds to expand, enhance, or sustain additional restorative practices best practices.
Other Eligibility Considerations While LEAs new to restorative practices may apply, these LEAs need to demonstrate commitment and capacity to implement restorative practices to ensure successful implementation and sustainability.
