Funding Description
Funding is awarded to the Riverside County Office of Education in support of online tools to provide information regarding college planning and preparation primarily applicable to students in middle school, high school, and community college, as well as for their parents, teachers, and school counselors, and to also provide services related to college preparation and matriculation, such as the transmission of high school transcripts and test scores to colleges and universities.

Of the funds appropriated, $23,684,000 is to be used to provide information regarding planning and preparation for postsecondary education and services related to matriculation to postsecondary educational institutions and $5,500,000 is to be used for high-quality online materials and educational resources, including resources for educators, to be made available to local educational agencies at no cost. Up to 5 percent of the amount appropriated for online educational resources may be used for administrative costs by the Riverside County Office of Education.

The Riverside County Office of Education must report to the California Department of Education (CDE), the Director of Finance, and the Legislature, pursuant to Government Code Section 9795, regarding the expenditures supported by this appropriation and the number and categories of students who accessed services through the program funded through Schedule (1) of Item 6100-172-0001 of the annual Budget Act.
By November 15, 2026, the Riverside County Office of Education must report to the CDE, the Director of Finance, and the fiscal committees of the Legislature on the use of funds by fiscal year, beginning in the 2017-18 fiscal year, and include, at minimum 1) the total amount appropriated by fiscal year; 2) the contractors who were allocated funds, the amount of funds that went to each contractor, and any increases in contract costs and the reason; 3) the total balance of carryover funds at the beginning of each fiscal year and how much carryover funds are currently available; and 4) the total amount reimbursed to the California State Library by use of funds. |
