Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program

The California Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) is a federal reimbursement grant program administered by the Nutrition Services Division. The purpose of the FFVP is for elementary schools to provide an additional, free fresh fruit or vegetable snack to students during the school day and to teach students about good nutrition. The FFVP also encourages developing partnerships at the state and local level. This FFVP grant period is July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027.

Online grant application using Snap Survey. Printable version available for content review. The Nutrition Services Division will only accept online applications. Applications are due by 4 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time on Friday, February 6, 2026.

FFVP Guidelines Supplemental guidelines to help participating elementary schools implement the FFVP in an effective manner. All agencies currently participating in any and all federal Child Nutrition Programs must be in good standing in the operation of those programs and in compliance with all related regulations during the application process and at all times during the course of the grant period.

Good Standing Status Includes the criteria that the California Department of Education will consider in determining an agency's good standing status.

General Assurances and Certifications

Required as a condition of receiving funds. Applicants do not need to sign and return them with the application; they must be downloaded and kept on file for compliance reviews, complaint investigations, or audits. Applicants that participate in the Consolidated Application should have a copy on file and do not need another copy. Program-specific assurances are not included here and should be listed separately on the Request for Application.
