Dear County and District Superintendents, Charter School Administrators, and School Principals:

School Safety Webinar Series: Creating Safer Schools

To support education leaders in creating safe and supportive learning environments, I am hosting a series of webinars covering a range of school safety topics. Please join the California Department of Education (CDE) and me for the second webinar in this series, Creating Safer Schools, on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 11 a.m.

This webinar will feature CDE staff who will review the Comprehensive Safe School Plan, revised checklist, and additional school safety resources to safeguard students and staff. Participants will also have an opportunity to hear from companies that offer gun detection technology.

Please register for the Creating Safer Schools webinar via Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_SasHOFLIShqcSe-Qh4F7jg.

You will also be able to view a livestream of the event on the CDE Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/CAEducation.

If you have any questions or want to share best practices, please email the CDE School Health and Safety Office at SHSO@cde.ca.gov.

Sincerely,

Tony Thurmond

State Superintendent of Public Instruction
