Share Your Professional Learning StoryInformation for being featured in the California Professional Learning Stories collection.
The California Department of Education is showcasing professional learning systems that exemplify the California Quality Professional Learning Standards (QPLS). The QPLS provide guidance regarding the characteristics of professional learning that are most likely to support educators in building individual and collective capacity to meet professional, school, and student performance expectations.
California Professional Learning Stories is a collection of videos and resources showing the QPLS in action in schools, districts, and other professional learning systems. The collection is meant to support educators across the state to learn from each other by sharing examples of leveraging high-quality professional learning practices to address specific student outcomes.
If you have a professional learning system aligned to the QPLS that has contributed to positive outcomes, we want to share your story. Please send an email to EEED@cde.ca.gov. A PL Stories team member will reach out to you to learn more about your story and share more detailed information regarding the requirements listed below.
The requirements listed below provide general information. Please reach out to EEED@cde.ca.gov for more detailed information regarding PL Stories requirements.
Each PL Story must focus on one of the QPLS (PDF). PL Stories must highlight a professional learning system that exemplifies one of the following characteristics:
- Rooted in student and educator needs demonstrated through data
- Focused on content and pedagogy
- Designed to ensure equitable outcomes
- Designed and structured to be ongoing, intensive, and embedded in practice
- Collaborative with an emphasis on shared accountability
- Supported by adequate resources
- Coherent and aligned with other standards, policies, and programs
These characteristics are further described in the QPLS. PL Stories should try to address as many of the elements of the selected standard as possible. PL Stories should also focus on a specific problem of practice and include evidence of positive outcomes.
PL Stories may be presented in a variety of ways, including, for instance, live action, slide presentations, and animations, as long as they meet the formatting requirements provided below. Submitters may also include links to supplemental resources, such as web pages, lesson plans, research, guidance documents, or other supportive resources.
Submissions must be in video format and fully meet the California Department of Education (CDE) Accessibility Web Standards and the CDE Video & Other Multimedia Standards in order to be posted on the CDE website.
Videos should not be more than 15 minutes in length.
