New Guidance on Supreme Court Decision in Mahmoud v. Taylor

The California Department of Education (CDE) has posted new guidance, “Supreme Court Decision in Mahmoud v. Taylor,” on the following web page: https://www.cde.ca.gov/re/lr/mt/

This non-binding guidance relates to a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision that addresses whether and when local educational agencies may be required to provide parents with notice of, and the opportunity to opt their students out of, particular lessons.

This guidance reflects the enduring commitment of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and the CDE to include all Californians in rigorous and safe learning environments, regardless of identity, background, or religious faith.
