One-Time Funds for Outstanding Mandate Claims, Fiscal Year 2018–19


Funding Description

One-time funding available for local educational agencies (LEAs) in Fiscal Year (FY) 2018–19 shall first satisfy any outstanding mandate claims. Funds may be used for any one-time purpose determined by the LEA’s governing board. See Additional Information for details regarding legislative intent. School districts required to repay claims disallowed under the School-Based Medi-Cal Administrative or Local Educational Agency Medi-Cal Billing Option programs for fiscal years 2009–10 to 2015–16 may have amounts withheld from apportionments by the State Controller's Office.

Eligible Applicants Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria LEAs must have reported average daily attendance (ADA) as of the 2017–18 Second Principal (P-2) Apportionment and must be in operation in fiscal year 2018–19. LEAs include school districts, county offices of education and charter schools.

Other Legislative intent is to prioritize the use of funds for professional development, induction for beginning teachers with a focus on relevant mentoring, instructional materials, technology infrastructure, employee benefits, and any other investments necessary to support implementation of the common core academic content standards (in English language arts and mathematics), English language development standards, and Next Generation Science standards.
