Proposition 51 Career Technical Education (CTE) Facilities Program
Proposition 51 included $500 million to construct/modernize CTE facilities as well as purchase equipment on comprehensive high school sites. The Career Technical Education Facilities Program (CTEP) allocated funds to comprehensive high schools through a competitive grant process. The 2020 Career Technical Education Funding Cycle 6 will utilize any available CTEFP funds under Proposition 51.

Career Technical Education Requirements for School Construction Projects at High Schools
The New Construction application (Form SFPD 4.07) (DOC) requires school districts to consult with its career technical education advisory committee if the project is located on a high school (per Education Code Section 17070.52). In addition, Education Code Section 17070.95 requires districts to certify to the State Allocation Board their consultation with their career technical education advisory committee.

Senate Bill 13 (Chapter 519, Statutes of 2007) Requirements
Senate Bill 13 (Chapter 519, States of 2007) added California Education Code Section 17070.52. This section requires the California Department of Education (CDE) to collect information from Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) on how the needs of Career Technical Education (CTE) are being met. For each new construction project, the LEA must report whether a CTE component is included as part of the project. If not, the LEA must explain how it intends on meeting the CTE needs of the students housed in the project. The applicant must also provide the date on which the CTE advisory committee was consulted. Pursuant to this section, the CDE is required to produce a quarterly report to the Office of Public School Construction.
