The WAI Advisory welcomes public involvement. Opportunities for public comment are provided at every meeting.

  • Item 1–Call to Order: Welcome and Introductions; Mission and Vision; Approval of Minutes.
9:20 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
  • Item 2–WAI Bylaw Committee Report: The WAI State Advisory and Regional Bylaw Committee will share proposed updates to the Bylaws.
9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
  • Item 3–Committee and Regional Updates: Region co-managers and committee chairs share news and updates.
10:45 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.
  • Item 4–WAI Handbook Subcommittee Updates: The WAI Handbook Subcommittee will share recommendations regarding additions and modifications to the WAI Fiscal and Program Handbook.
11:20 a.m. to 11:25 a.m.
  • Item 5–Public Comment: General public comment is invited on any matter, including items not on the agenda. Issues raised by the public may be referred to a future meeting agenda. Chair reserves the right to establish time limits on presentations.

  • Item 6–California Department of Education Updates: CDE staff will discuss recent developments within the SED, as well as updates to key areas related to the WAI grant.

  • Item 7–California Educators Together Update: The California Educators Together Committee will share the latest information regarding the WAI presence on the web platform.

  • Item 8–Nominations and Elections: WAI Advisory will approve the slate of nominees and conduct elections for the positions of WAI Advisory Chair and WAI Advisory Chair Alternate.
3:00 p.m. to 3:55 p.m.
  • Item 9–Project SEARCH: A representative from Project SEARCH will share information about the program, which provides employment opportunities for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
3:55 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  • Item 3–Assessments for WAI: WAI Advisory will discuss various types of assessments to be used in individualized education programs (IEP) for students in middle school through adult transition programs.
10:15 a.m. to 10:20 a.m.
