File structure for the Juvenile Court and County Community (JCCC) Schools Graduation outcomes data from the California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS).

Field Name Description
Academic Year

The academic year (July 1 – June 30) corresponding to the time period when Cohort data was calculated.

Aggregate Level An indicator of the aggregation level.
  • T = State
  • C = County
  • S = School

Note: One of these values must be chosen to obtain an unduplicated count at the selected level.

County Code 2-digit County Code.
District Code

5-digit District Code.

School Code

7-digit School Code.

County Name County Name.
District Name District Name.
School Name School Name.
School Type The Education Option Category Name (EdOpsCategoryName) is a short text description of the type of education offered.

Cohort Students (Count) The number of students who enter grade 9 for the first time, plus any students who transfer in later during grade 9 or the next three years, minus any student from the cohort who transfers out, emigrates from the country, transfers to a juvenile facility or prison, or dies during that same period.
Regular High School (HS) Diploma Graduates (Count) Total number of cohort students who received the standard high school diploma from a school aligned with State education standards.
Regular HS Diploma Graduates (Rate) The percentage of cohort students who received the standard high school diploma.
Met University of California/California State University (UC/CSU) Grad Requirements (Count) Total number of cohort graduates who met all a-g requirements for admission into a University of California (UC) or California State University (CSU) school.
Met UC/CSU Grad Requirements (Rate) The percentage of cohort graduates who met admission requirements for a UC or CSU school.
Local Requirements Exemption (Count)

The total number of cohort graduates who, in accordance with Education Code Section 51225.1(s), graduated with an exemption from the local educational agency’s graduation requirements that are in addition to the statewide coursework requirements.

The percentage of cohort graduates who received an exemption from the local educational agency’s graduation requirements that are in addition to the statewide coursework requirements.

California Proficiency Program (CPP) Completer (Count)

Total number of cohort students who withdrew from regular high school without receiving a regular high school diploma and the district has acceptable documentation that the student received a California Certificate of Proficiency issued by the State Board of Education by passing a California proficiency test authorized by Education Code Section 48412, which includes the California High School Proficiency Exam (CHSPE), or a test that is part of the California Proficiency Program (CPP). Currently, the CPP includes passage of the mathematics and English language arts subtests of the HiSET-Proficiency.

Note: This data element was changed in 2023–24 from CHSPE Completer (Count) to CPP Completer (Count).

CPP Completer (Rate)

The percentage of cohort students who are CPP completers.

Adult Education HS Diploma (Count) Total number of cohort students who withdrew from regular high school without receiving a regular high school diploma, and later received documentation for completing an adult education program.
Adult Education HS Diploma (Rate) The percentage of cohort students who received documentation for completing an adult education program.
Special Education (SPED) Certificate (Count) Total number of cohort students with exceptional needs (having an Individualized Education Program (IEP)) who received a certificate or document of education achievement or completion.
Special Education (SPED) Certificate (Rate) The percentage of cohort student with exceptional needs who received a certificate or document of education achievement or completion.
General Education Development (GED) Completer (Count) Total number of cohort students who withdrew from regular high school without receiving a regular high school diploma and has received a High School Equivalency Certificate by passing the General Education Development (GED) exam, the Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC) exam, and/or the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET).
General Education Development (GED) Completer (Rate) The percentage of cohort students who received a High School Equivalency Certificate.
