Dear San Francisco County Superintendent of Schools:

APPORTIONMENT TO THE
SAN FRANCISCO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
FOR ONLINE K–12 CURRICULUM RESOURCES
FOR HISTORY-SOCIAL SCIENCE
FISCAL YEAR 2017–18

This apportionment, in the amount of $5,000,000, is made to the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) from funds provided in Section 82 of Assembly Bill (AB) 99 (Chapter 15, Statutes of 2017). These funds are apportioned to SFUSD to contract with the California Historical Society, in partnership with the California History-Social Science Project, to create a free online K–12 curriculum for History-Social Science that includes primary and secondary sources, lesson plans, and related instructional materials aligned to the History-Social Science Framework adopted by the State Board of Education in 2016. The materials shall utilize the archival and digital resources of the California Historical Society and other state and federal institutions and should include support for student literacy development, civic engagement, and be organized around an inquiry model of instruction. The amount apportioned is equal to 100 percent of the amount available.

Pursuant to Subdivision (b) of Section 82, the curriculum shall be made available to teachers by July 1, 2019, and the California Historical Society and the California History-Social Science Project shall work with the California Department of Education to make the online resources available and accessible to all teachers statewide.

The San Francisco County Superintendent of Schools was notified of this apportionment by e-mail, which was sent to its CDEfisc e-mail address.
