Negative Certification

A negative certification is assigned to a school district or county office of education when it is determined that, based upon current projections, the school district or county office of education will not meet its financial obligations for 1999-00 or 2000-01.

Note: Since the Second Interim Report, the fiscal health of Emery Unified has declined and AB 1200 "going concern" has been invoked by the county office, providing the county office with oversight authority comparable to certifying the district as negative.
